Dear Residents

We regret to report that our suburb is being targeted by a gang of house robbers. Two armed robberies have taken place in the early hours of the morning in the space of a week. The first robbery occurred at a unit in Balindean and the second at a house in Lesley Rd.

Dowry have reported that crime in the general Boskruin area is on the increase, as well as throughout Johannesburg. In light of the two burglaries Dowry will increase security measures.

They will place additional security guards as well as an extra patrol vehicle in the suburb. New procedures at the booms have been implemented so expect delays - it is for your safety.

Please put your alarms on � in both incidents the alarms had not been activated. Dowry suggests that all Residents arm their alarm systems in �Stay/Home Arm� mode. Should a Resident not be familiar with arming his/her alarm system in this mode, they could contact Dowry's Technical Division. They can either assist by explaining telephonically how to do this, or a technician can be sent out to permanently program the alarm system in this manner.

Do not leave windows open even if they have burglar bars.
If in doubt press your panic and phone the Dowry area vehicle immediately.

Please get your stickers for your cars.
We trust that this meets with the approval of the residents.

At around 12h45 on Thursday, 19 August 2010, I was driving south (up towards Turley Road) on Cheyney Road in Lonehill. As I was approaching 3 guys and 1 lady (standing next to the road), an object was flung towards my car, hitting and shattering the top part of my windscreen. I did not stop, but carried on driving as I was about 1.5km from home (Ravenshill Complex). I unfortunately did not see what object was used for this and wasn�t about to stop and check it out.

I did not report the incident earlier as I was actually on my way home to leave for holiday, and we only returned late yesterday afternoon.

Hello neighbours,

Domestic Watch needs help

Something that we are in need of is assistance during the once-a-month Domestic Watch meetings held at Sandton Bible Church in Leslie Avenue, Douglasdale. These are Thursday morning meetings that start at 09h30 and end at around 11h45.

We need people to commit to opening and closing the gate via remote. We need people to help at the reception table so that lessons are not delayed. The Domestic Watch has grown so much that the few ladies that assist regularly cannot cope on their own anymore.

Your contribution will take 1.5 hours a month � it could be your contribution to fighting crime in your home town.

Please let me know if you are interested in helping.

There is a lot of roadworks going on around the area and its possible he just got a fright and did a runner.

He also introduced himself as James Molefe and gave me the following cell number, saying that he is looking for a 3 bedroom house round R1.8m - 073 8411 860. Also, this time they arrived in a pretty banged up Maroon Mazda Etude with Registration No. WYD 912 GP - clearly false plates on such an old car.
